The short version
Latest does not require an account and does not contain advertising, listener analytics, or tracking. Your podcast subscriptions, listening history, and downloaded episodes stay on your device. When configured for catalog search, Latest sends your search text to Aceves Apps' discovery service. We do not retain search text or listener identifiers.
The app also connects directly to third-party services when a search uses Apple fallback, verifies a show's activity, refreshes a feed, streams or downloads an episode, loads artwork or chapters, opens an external link, or uses Google Cast. Those services process the request under their own privacy terms.
Past beta access requests
Before the public release, the website accepted requests for closed beta access. Aceves Apps stored the submitted email address, request time, and request status only to manage the test and troubleshoot access problems. It did not use those addresses for marketing.
Requests are deleted from the request database after 90 days. If you join the beta group, Google retains that membership until you leave the group or the group owner removes it. Cloudflare Turnstile may process normal network and browser information to protect the form from automated abuse.
Information kept on your device
Latest stores the following information locally so the player works:
- podcast subscriptions and feed addresses;
- the newest episode metadata returned by each feed;
- playback position, queue state, and player preferences;
- downloaded audio, podcast artwork, and temporary cache files.
Aceves Apps cannot access this local information. You can remove individual subscriptions and downloads in the app. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling Latest removes the remaining local data.
Feedback messages
If you use the feedback form, Aceves Apps sends your feedback type, message, optional app version, and optional reply email to Salvador's developer inbox through Amazon Simple Email Service. The website does not store the message in a database or use it for marketing.
To limit automated abuse, the service turns your network address into a keyed one-way hash and counts submissions from that hash for one hour. It deletes the counter after two hours. The service does not store the network address itself. Cloudflare Turnstile may process normal network and browser information to block automated submissions. Amazon Web Services also processes normal request and email delivery information to run these services.
Network requests and third parties
Latest sends requests only when needed for a feature you use:
- Catalog searches go to Aceves Apps' discovery service, hosted on AWS, which searches show metadata from Podcast Index. It processes your IP address temporarily to limit abuse, without retaining it. We keep only aggregate operational counts, timings, and error metrics for up to 30 days. When this service is unavailable or finds no active shows, search text goes directly to the Apple iTunes Search API to find podcasts. Versions without catalog search configured use Apple directly. Your device may check publisher RSS feeds for fallback results to verify recent episode publication, even before you follow those shows.
- Feed addresses, episode requests, artwork requests, and chapter requests go directly to podcast publishers and their hosting providers.
- If you choose Google Cast, Latest sends the selected episode's media URL, title, podcast name, artwork URL, and playback state to the Cast device and Google Cast framework. Google's privacy policy applies to its services.
These providers receive normal network information such as your IP address and request headers. Most connections use HTTPS. A podcast publisher may provide an HTTP feed or media address, in which case that request is not encrypted in transit. Aceves Apps does not sell this information or use it for advertising.
Files you choose
You can export your subscriptions to an OPML file or import an OPML file from your device. Latest reads or creates that file only after you choose the action and location. The app does not upload OPML files to Aceves Apps.
Permissions
Latest uses internet access for podcast discovery and playback, a foreground media service for background audio and lock-screen controls, and a wake lock while media is playing. It does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or advertising ID.
Children
Latest is a general-audience podcast utility and is not designed for children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Podcast content comes from independent publishers and may not be suitable for every age.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, Aceves Apps will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the Google Play Data safety section.
